Planning the Journey: Gearing Up for the Ride

Route to Kund Malir

Kund Malir is located approximately 240 kilometers from Karachi, making it an ideal weekend getaway. The journey takes around 4 to 5 hours by road via the Makran Coastal Highway, one of Pakistan’s most scenic routes.

Essential Packing List

Before setting off on the road trip, we made sure to pack:

  • A tent for camping
  • Food and water supplies
  • Warm clothing for the chilly night
  • Basic repair tools for the motorbike
  • A first aid kit for emergencies

Proper planning ensured we had a comfortable and hassle-free experience on the road.

The Journey Begins: Riding Towards Adventure

First Stop: Zero Point

Our first stop was Zero Point, a popular rest area along the Makran Coastal Highway. We took a short break here, stretching our legs and enjoying a cup of hot tea to refresh ourselves before continuing the journey.

Chasing the Sunset on the Way to Kund Malir

Our goal was to reach Kund Malir before sunset, but minor delays meant we witnessed the last sunset of 2022 while still on the road. The golden hues of the setting sun against the vast coastal landscape created a mesmerizing view, making the delay worthwhile.

Camping at Kund Malir: A Night Under the Stars

Setting Up Camp by the Beach

Upon reaching Kund Malir, we found a peaceful spot on the beach, pitched our tent, and prepared for a night of fun. The sound of waves crashing against the shore and the cool sea breeze made the atmosphere truly magical.

Celebrating New Year’s Eve

The night was filled with laughter, music, and deep conversations under a sky full of stars. There were very few people around, making it an intimate and peaceful New Year’s celebration.

The First Sunrise of the Year: A Breathtaking Moment

The next morning, we woke up early to witness the first sunrise of 2023. The golden rays reflecting off the sea created an awe-inspiring view, reminding us of the beauty and new beginnings that each year brings.

Exploring Beyond the Beach: A Ride into the Mountains

Challenges on the Way

After enjoying the sunrise, we decided to venture deeper into the mountains. However, our journey took a slight detour when our motorbike got stuck in the sand. It took some effort and teamwork to get it out, but overcoming this challenge only added to the adventure.

Unexpected Reunion

During our breakfast stop, we had an unexpected yet pleasant surprise – we ran into a friend and his wife, who had also come to Kund Malir for the New Year. The small world moment made the trip even more special.

Visiting the Iconic Princess of Hopes Statue

One of the highlights of our journey was visiting the Princess of Hopes, a natural rock formation that stands tall between the mountains. The structure looks like a princess gazing into the horizon, adding a mystical charm to the rugged landscape.

The view from this spot was simply breathtaking, making us appreciate the artistic beauty of nature.

The Return Journey: A Thrilling Ride Back to Karachi

Switching the Rider

On our way back, my friend, feeling a little tired, handed over the motorbike to me. Riding along the Makran Coastal Highway, with the wind rushing past and the open road ahead, was an exhilarating experience that I will never forget.
